Reconstruction Self Reflection

Gavin-Reflection Questions
Reconstruction Debate

  1. How did I feel during planning this presentation? Why did I feel this way?
    1. I felt confident because I had Kiana and Sam in my group, and they work hard and definitely try their best. I also felt worried because I was afraid that some of my other group members would not finish their project.
  2. How did I feel prior to presenting? Why did I feel this way?
    1. I felt nervous because the previous day I practiced at home and I didn’t do very well. When I got to school, though, I practiced more and more and felt a lot more confident.
  3. How did I feel while I was presenting? Why did I feel this way?
    1. I felt assured because I had practiced so hard. If I had not had practiced to memorize those points, I would have done terribly.
  4. What did I personally do well?
    1. I thought that I did well in content because of my two quotes that I included in my slides. Also, I felt that my images were nice, large, and easy to see.
  5. What did not go as desired in this presentation?
    1. In this presentation, I think that I wished that I had done more action in my slides to include the viewer more.
  6. On a scale from 1-10, how well do I think I understood the content? Explain.
    1. On my parts, I think I understood it about a 9 out of 10. On all of the parts, I think that I understood about 7.5-8 out of 10.
  7. How do I think my group members perceived me? Why do I think this?
    1. I think they thought that I didn’t work hard on this project because the first time I presented it to them, I didn’t do so well. But also, I think that they thought with the final outcome in the end of the actual debate, they were pretty happy with my presentation.
  8. How do I think the 8th graders perceived me? Why do I think this?
    1. I think that they perceived me like I was pretty good, but not a huge stand out because of how well Sam and Kiana did.
  9. Knowing that I can only control how I act and react, if I could do this presentation again, what would I change about my actions to make it a more ideal experience?
    1. I would add more action to my presentation part to include my viewer more, and have a little more content.
  10. What are my strengths in groups?
    1. I think I am a pretty good all around with my projects. I am not the best on content, but on the higher end. I do well in the technology parts, too.
  11. What areas do I need improvement?
    1. I think that I need to improve most on practicing my presenting skills. I need to walk around the room more and seem like I know exactly what I’m doing.
  12. What is the most important thing I learned about myself? Why is this so important?
    1. I think that the most important thing that I have learned about myself is that I need to not stress out. This is important so that I can still do my best, but not worry.
  13. Are there any other things that I need to express?
    1. I would like to add more movement to my pieces (for similar presentations/debates).

Reflective Blog Entry

Throughout my time in the DLC, I have done many fun, encouraging projects that help me grow and become better than I used to be. For example, it has helped me grow to be a well-rounded person, and now I can create interesting products that make me happy. I used to not know anything about creating projects or how to keep people focused on my work, but now I know all about movement and transitions and even build ins and build outs. I have also learned how to control my worries and frustrations in class (with the projects, not the people).

I am also very proud about all of my products that I make. Even though I love all of my projects, my proudest one was probably the brochure. The brochure definitely showed my new talents and skills and put them to work.

My most challenging project so far, has been the Thematic Causes of The Civil War. It, unlike most of the other projects, had to be at least five minutes long. That was a challenge, but I got through it and did my best.

My most favorite  project is probably the Stephen Crane video. Not only because it came out so good, but mainly because I had a ton of fun doing it. The people in my group made me happy because of how well they worked, and what great things that they made.

In the second semester I hope that we a fun project of our choice. We could just choose whatever we wanted to do and have fun. It probably wouldn't be worth many points, but it brings out what everyone knows best about. Expectation wise, I would like to get an A in the DLC, do my best, and learn to have fun on every project. Happy Holidays!
